I'm excited to invite you to help celebrate the opening of our new Berkshire Veterans Transitional Living Facility on Thursday, September 23, 2004 at 10:00 AM. The Honorable Gordon Mansfield, Deputy Secretary of Veterans Affairs will address the veterans and supporters on this important occasion.
Thanks to the hard work and help from so many of you in the community, the United Veterans of America, Inc.'s program has made extraordinary progress in the past year.
- Working with the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Housing
and Urban Development, the Department of Labor, Congressional Members
both national and local, the Massachusetts Department of Veteran Services
and so many others, we have secured the funding necessary to provide essential
transitional housing and recovery services in Leeds, MA.
- Working with Pittsfield Mayor Ruberto, and other city officials, we
have acquired and renovated a new transitional housing facility in Pittsfield
at 360 West Housatonic Street. This facility will include our first effort
in longer term housing with studio apartments.
- Working with the Veterans Medical Center in Northampton, MA, we will
establish our first private women's housing in early Fall 2004.
- Working with the Veterans Medical Center in Northhampton, Ma, and the Statton Medical Center, Albany, NY we will begin operating a new Comprehensive Work Therapy Program with veteran ownership and management, serving veterans in Massachusetts, New York and Connecticut.
Many hands have helped in this program as people have rallied to our veterans. Our gratitude can never be completely expressed.
Please let us know you'll be joining us by calling 413-584-4040 ext.2269. Our Board of Directors is working on the opening of our new facility and look forward to greeting you.
Thanks for your help in support of our veterans.
